The Journey to Recovery Day Treatment Program at Mesilla Valley Hospital offers two Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for adults — one for chemical dependency and one for mental health, and both also address co-occurring disorders. PHP provides intense and highly-structured care that allows patients to return home every night after treatment, maintain family life and better manage their lives.

Chemical Dependency Partial Hospitalization Program

The Chemical Dependency PHP is ideal for patients who:

• Require intense, structured treatment for drug and/or alcohol addiction
• Need a step-down level of care after going through detoxification or an inpatient stay
• Have had little or no outpatient treatment, but express willingness to get help
• Currently receive outpatient treatment, but need a higher level of care to achieve recovery

We utilize a Matrix Model approach to addiction treatment to help patients identify, develop and practice lifestyle changes necessary for improving functioning and staying free of drugs and alcohol. Journey to Recovery incorporates a mix of evidence-based treatment strategies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and more.

Mental Health Partial Hospitalization Program

Mental Health PHP is an intense counseling program for people who want to address the symptoms of mental health conditions that prevent them from leading fulfilling lives. The program is ideal for patients stepping down from an inpatient setting and for those who need more mental health support than traditional outpatient counseling can provide.

Treatment components include:

• Relapse Prevention
• On-site Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings
• Individual, family and group therapy
• Medication management
• On-site consultation with a psychiatric provider
• Structured treatment five days a week (lunch included)
